Worked on a PowerEdge 2650 today. Well, built it yesterday, and today finished up the testing and built the array on it. This is a bit of an odd duck, really. Most Dell machines have firmware updates for the BIOS and the BMC, or baseboard management controller, basically a system where the server can monitor events, sensors, voltages, all that good stuff. The 2650 has one, but the update for it is part of the update for the remote access controller. It's the only machine I've seen like that, and I don't know why it is. Certainly not an obstacle to using the machine or anything. It's an older system, capable of taking two CPUs of either 400 or 533 FSB, and has slots for up to five SCSI hard drives, with onboard RAID capability.
